Image not archivedThe 12 machines of the new Truchas Cluster, Spanish for trout, have not just been an upgrade from the older Turing cluster, they have give the group a new purpose. They should evolve into a development type cluster to evaluate applications like the Maui scheduler as well as providing workstations and serving as a computational engine.

The Truchas Cluster's 12 nodes serve dual purposes. The cluster acts as workstations for workshop attendees and also as a computation engine for naturally parallel jobs. These jobs are scheduled through Condor, which migrates the jobs to other machines when the cluster is used for a workshop. The primary users of the Truchas Cluster are workshops, research assistants, general access for AHPCC accounts, Condor HPC users.
