Computational Atomic Physics

As part of our interest in large data management and visualization, Paul Alsing plans to port to and run a large 3D atom-ion collision code on the Power3 SMP SP and Netfinity cluster to experiment with distributing computing and visualization between the two machine architectures. It is planned that the visualization will be piped through the SGE using IBM's Data Explorer. This project involves collaboration with Merle Reily of Sandia National Laboratories and Ajit Hira, a former UNM student, now of Jarvis Christian College, Texas.
