SEC RESOURCES
Extensive computational resources are available to students in the SEC program. The University of New Mexico has established the High Performance Computing, Education, & Research Center (HPCERC) which provides a focus for high performance computing activities. HPCERC manages the Albuquerque High Performance Computing Center (AHPCC). AHPCC is a leading academic Center for high performance computing and scientific programming. Key missions of the AHPCC are to sponsor high performance computing educational programs and research in related computational areas. The SEC program is administered through the HPCERC/AHPCC.The Albuquerque High Performance Computing Center (AHPCC) is a leading academic center for high-performance computing and scientific programming. AHPCC is administered by UNM's High Performance Computing, Education, and Research Center (HPCERC). Federally-funded research scientists from across the US use AHPCC resources as part of their research programs. Nationally, AHPCC partners with other Alliance member institutions in developing, deploying, and promoting high-performance computing technologies such as the Alliance's national Virtual Machine Room and the Access Grid, a multi-participant, multi-site, internet-based collaborative conferencing environment. Within UNM, AHPCC assists over 20 associated faculty and their students, from the Colleges of Arts and Science, Engineering, Fine Arts, and the School of Medicine, in their research and teaching programs. The systems, offices, workshops, and seminar rooms of AHPCC are housed in 10,000 square feet on the University of New Mexico (UNM) campus. The Center presents regular tutorials and workshops on the software tools and systems available for high performance computing. Through its membership in the Partnership for Advanced Computing Systems of the National Computational Science Alliance, AHPCC can also provide users access to the significant computing resources of Alliance members. In addition to the facilities associated with the AHPCC, UNM has close ties to Sandia National laboratories and the Air Force Resarch Laboratory in Albuquerque, and the Los Alamos National Laboratory. A variety of advanced architecture computers are available for collaborative research projects at these national laboratories. |
