Planned Research And Development

The details of the planned research and development are given in the remaining sections of this document. A major component of the research plan is to develop research collaborations with groups at IBM's research laboratories to demonstrate effective and balanced interconnections between different computer architectures for scientific research and computation.

Any software tools or drivers that are developed by AHPCC in order to support or configure the equipment will be developed in order to derive the maximum benefit from and for open source software systems.

This section is divided into three parts: network, hybrid programming, and visualization research; research into data-intensive applications; and scientific application research that will be performed using this equipment. Finally, we briefly discuss a related research proposal and plan that will be enhanced by the presence of the SUR equipment
